HKYWA

The Hong Kong young writers awards is an annual writing competition of categories from fiction, non fiction poetry and cover art, this is to show off the talents of the students of Hong Kong students . This year I decided to join to write about the ‘New Tales from the Mogao Grottoes’ . For this I wrote a 3000 word story related to the Mogao Grottoes. After writing it and submitting it to my teacher I thought not much of it until one day in the mail I received a award from HKYWA for a ‘Honorable mention’ I was shocked as I did not believe my writing was on a level to be a honorably mentioned as I was never strong in literature. This showed me my improvement throughout school and that my effort that I put in the summer before in my English by reading everyday and writing countless essays to help improve my literature. The growth in my writing skills have brought me confidence in my ability to write more challenging text and be able to challenge myself with harder topics to write and read about. Writing has helped me learn about topics I would never think I would learn about, helping me expand my knowledge of the world and improve myself.
